When the pandemic was closing everything down, Martlets Hospice took the opportunity to completely transform their retail operation, improve the way they were working, and implement a more efficient Gift Aid process with Wil-U.

Martlets Hospice have seven shops across Brighton and Hove and every penny of profit goes into providing life-changing hospice care to terminally ill people in the local area. Martlets began working with Wil-U in April 2020 and have been Wil-U champions ever since!

Quick and easy implementation to set shops up for success

Martlets started by implementing Wil-U POS, Digital Gift Aid Sign Up and automated Gift Aid Processing in time for shops reopening in June 2020.

“Wil-U have been fantastically easy to work with from the very beginning of our journey! Their system is intuitive, anyone who has ever used a till can figure it out with very minimal training. The professionalism of their support centre is second to none, with direct contact to the support team and regular updates on reported issues until a resolution is received,” said Robert Parker, Area Sales Manager at Martlets.

With Wil-U, Martlets have increased visibility of their shop performance, connected the finance and retail teams, and totally removed admin around the retail Gift Aid process. The new solution has been very well received by shop teams who have all adapted incredibly quickly and are now more eager than ever to ask new donors to sign up to Gift Aid.

“The system is intuitive, anyone who has ever used a till can figure it out with very minimal training.”

Adopting new modules as their needs changed

Martlets have adapted to different ways of working as the charity retail landscape has changed and Wil-U has been there to help every step of the way. When shops closed once again, Martlets adopted the Wil-U Stock and eCommerce modules they needed to help them keep track of online sales and link it with their Gift Aid Processing.

“Wil-U has grown a lot in the short time we’ve been using it and the team always takes our feedback on board. It’s great to see the solution evolving as charity retail changes – it’s been so helpful during the pandemic when one minute we’re in shops, the next we’re selling everything online!” said Robert.

Helping to shape the future of Wil-U

“Working with Martlets has been such a joy. As they have had to adapt, so have we, and they’ve been the perfect partners for helping us ensure that the features we develop really work for charities,” said Richard Dorf, Wil-U CEO.

We’re so excited to see what else Martlets achieve with Wil-U now shops are open again – watch this space!
