About a year ago, a large UK charity came to us with issues around their retail Gift Aid sign up process. They told us that they had serious challenges with the paper sign up forms – they’re messy, hard to store, easy to lose and 25% of the time, the data was incorrect, illegible, or incomplete. Volunteers were hesitant to ask donors about their tax affairs and donors often didn’t feel like they understood exactly what Gift Aid is or what it meant for them.

Charity Expertise knew this was an area where we could help. Not only for that particular charity but for the sector as a whole. We took our technical knowledge and combined it with what we know about the way charities work.

We created Wil-U: a digital sign up solution that replaces the paper forms with a modern touchscreen interface. It’s hosted on a tablet so donors can fill in their details themselves and read (and consent to) what Gift Aid is all about without tying up the till. Data is checked for accuracy and it ensures no required data is missing.

And the best bit? Wil-U can be integrated completely with existing Gift Aid processes. You don’t have to waste time copying details of donors onto the computer. You don’t have to store endless piles of paper forms. You don’t have to worry about complying with GDPR.

Wil-U is just the first step on our mission to really help transform the charity sector. We want to help as many charities as possible to be more successful in 2018.
